As part of efforts to position citizens at the centre for accountable governance and to strengthen participatory data-based land-use planning by district assemblies, a meeting was held on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025 at the Kintampo South District Assembly with the Technical Advisors from GIZ.
The objective of the meeting was to enable management to have a partnership dialogue and operational planning sessions on the preparation of Structure Plan under the PAIReD Program.
Present at the meeting were the District Chief Executive, Hon. Wilfred Zuuri; the Presiding Member, Hon. Pimbo S. Albert; the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Samuel Gyamena; Heads of Department and members of the Technical Sub-Committee. The Technical Advisors from GIZ were Mr. Aliu Aminu and Mr. Nalen Adama.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Wilfred Zuuri, in his opening remarks, expressed gratitude to GIZ for selecting Kintampo South District as a beneficiary district in the PAIReD Program. He pledged to offer the needed assistance and resources for a smooth implementation of the program and entreated management and the Technical Sub-Committee (TSC) to avail themselves and cooperate with the team from GIZ.
The Technical Advisors were equally grateful to management for the warm reception and support offered them so far. They expressed optimism about the program and the tremendous benefits the Assembly would gain. Mr. Aliu Aminu indicated that the duty of the Technical Advisors was to strengthen capacities of the Kintampo South District Assembly to develop land-use plans (structure plan) jointly with the citizens, specifically considering the needs and interests of women, youths, local businesses and the environment.
He further indicated that the purpose of the meeting was to engage management and discuss Structural Plan Preparation Strategy for 2025, have a session with the TSC on Structure Plan (SP) Preparation Work Plan, discuss the work plan with Management and budget allocation and agree on the next steps.
The Technical Sub-Committee after extensive deliberation with the Technical Advisors from GIZ was able to develop a work plan for the preparation of a Structure Plan. The work plan when implemented successfully would enable the Kintampo South District Assembly develop a Structure Plan that would serve as a tool to ensure a safe, inclusive and sustainable spatial development within the district.
