On the Friday, 19th August 2022, the Kintampo South District Assembly through the Social Welfare Unit presented items for pastries and Soap Making to 24 People Living with Disabilities (PWDs).
The presentation was on the backdrop of having given 14 PWDs training in Pastry and 8 PWDs in Soap Making. The items presented to each of the 14 PWDs and 8 PWDs respectively included: a bag of sugar, a bag of flour, an oven, a container of margarine, a gallon of cooking oil, a carton of milk etc for those who took training in pastry making. For those who took training in Soap making, a Liquid Soap Base, Crystal Salt, Perfume, Costic Soda etc were presented.
After equipping the beneficiaries with the requisite skills through training to empower them to gain financial freedom, the assembly believes the next step was to provide them with start-up kits and the needed materials to put the skills acquired to good use.
Hon. Alexander Gyan (MP for Kintampo South), in his speech admonished beneficiaries not to neither sell the items nor use them for family consumption but rather use the items for its intended purpose to enable them become financially stable.
Present during the presentation were Hon. Alexander Gyan, Member of Parliament for Kintampo South, Mr. Samuel Gyamena, District Coordinating Director, and Hon. Kwaku Agyarko, Chairman of the Social Services Sub-Committee.
